Independence Lighting Ceremony

Every year on the first day of November, there is a ceremony that signals the beginning of Barbados’ month of independence. The event occurs in Independence Square and features performances that mark a celebration of nationalism and the official lighting of Bridgetown in the national colours of blue, yellow and black.

Date: 1st

                                                                                          Location: Independence Square, Bridgetown

Barbados Open Water Swim Festival 2017

The month of November welcomes the 5th edition of the Barbados Open Water Festival, an event organised by Swim Barbados Vacations. The event occurs over 5 days and features a series of open water swim events of various distances (1.5km, 5km, 10km and “Just for Fun” swim races). There are also stand up paddle board races and kayak team relay races. For more information visit http://www.swimbarbadosvacations.com/.

Location: Copacabana Beach, Carlisle Bay, Bridgetown

Annual Sizzlin’ Sand Beach Volleyball “Barbados Sunsplash”

This event will feature the best beach volleyball players from various parts of the world including the Caribbean, North America and Central America. In addition to two days of great competition, there will also be great beach parties with live entertainment and music.

Dates: 4th – 5th

Location:  Brandon’s Beach, St. Michael

Barbados Turf Club Horse Racing Season 3 – Days 2 and 3

Season 3 of horse racing in Barbados continues with Days 2 and 3 in November. Each day of each season features 9 races and the entrance fee to the various stands ranges from as low as $10 to $100 for the entire day. Admission for the grounds is free.

Date: 11th, 25th   

Location: Garrison Savannah, St. Michael

Time: 1 pm – 6 pm

 

Bajan Fusion – Hikers’ Paradise

For those seeking a little adventure mixed with fitness and exercise, join Bajan Fusion for a hike through St. Andrew’s roads and hills. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to stop, stare and enjoy what this parish has to offer. The registration fee of $20 includes registration, tour guides, water and snacks (fruit and granola bar). For more information call or WhatsApp 284-5426 or email bajanfusion@gmail.com

Barbados Historic Rally Carnival

The Barbados Historic Rally Carnival will commemorate its 16th edition this year. It is an event that not only provides some excellent motorsport races for the sporting enthusiasts but is also a great event to just come out and have fun among friends and family for a few days. 51st Anniversary Independence Day Parade

An important event on the independence calendar is the annual Independence Day Parade. Every year, Bajans come decked out in their national colours to celebrate the day we officially became independent from Britain.

Location: Garrison Savannah

 

 

Barbados Food & Rum Festival

This is one of the most anticipated events on the Barbados Calendar. It consists of a series of events and food experiences that will absolutely delight your taste buds and give you a new appreciation for local cuisine. The festival features several international and local chefs, rum experts and mixologists who will all demonstrate their wonderful talent.
