Now it is time to start planning this special event.

While weddings can be planned on short notice, it is best to give yourself as much time as possible. From the moment you become engaged, you should be planning. How are you going to pay for this wedding, will it be large or small, number of guests, indoors or out. Click here for a downloadable wedding checklist.

Think about the time of year that you will be planning your wedding. If you are having an outdoors wedding, you must take the weather into account and plan outside of hurricane season. Also travelling during peak season will be more expensive, both for flights and hotel accommodations.

Send invitations as far in advance as possible. This allows your guests time to schedule leave, book flights and budget for the event. You can find out if the airlines offer any group rate and get your guests to book together.

There are many spectacular locations across to choose from for your wedding day and while the internet offers you a glimpse of them all, it is best to visit them in person or have someone visit them on your behalf and find in-depth reviews online. Also, do not book a location which has too many weddings on the day of your wedding (unless that place has special meaning to you). Your day should feel relaxed and not rushed or crowded.

Choosing where to stay is also quite important. At an all inclusive resort all meals are taken care of. You and your guests need not worry about finding extra finances for dining. However, if you want to spend more time out on the town and trying various restaurants, an all inclusive resort may be a waste and a simpler no frills hotel may do. You can also find numerous hotels and resorts offering great wedding packages. They usually have varying packages, from the simple “I do’s”, to wedding coordinators and spa treatments, even for the bridal party. Do your research to find out what suits you and your budget.

These are simple tips to start planning your wedding, however the stress accompanied by planning such an important occasion may be a lot to handle. It may be best to have someone look after the planning for you or hire a wedding planner. Click here for a list of wedding coordinators in Barbados. Remember, there are some legal documents which you will also need.
