Hiking with Hike Barbados
Every Sunday, Hike Barbados, an initiative from the Barbados National Trust, hosts a series of hikes at select point across the island. Persons have the option of the early morning hike at 6 am or the afternoon hike at 3:30 pm. On select Sundays, there are Moonlight Hikes, which begin at 5: 30 pm. Each hike lasts for around 3 hours. Strong foot wear and a hat, as well as bottle water, snacks, and a torchlight (for evening/night-time hikes) are the recommended items to bring on the hike. The hikes are very interesting, as they educate about Barbados’ history, culture and geography. There are also loads of fun.
What is unique about Hike Barbados is that it caters to persons of all fitness levels. For those who wish to take it easy, there is the option of the “Stop ’n stare”, which goes for about 6 miles, for the “in betweens” there is the “Medium & Fast Medium” which goes on for about 9 miles, and finally for those looking for an extreme challenge, there is the “Grin ’n Bear” which is 12 miles in length. For more details on the hikes and locations contact 436-9033 or 426-2421.
Sunday Buffet Brunch/Lunch at Select Restaurants across the island
There are just some Sundays you don’t want to be in a kitchen cooking. Or, maybe you are just tired of eating at the same locations in the same settings as has become the norm. If this is you, why not dine out for breakfast and/or lunch on Sundays? Every Sunday, there are a few restaurants across the island that offer buffet lunches, and in some cases, live entertainment is involved. Our recommendation is The Crane. Every Sunday there is a Gospel Buffet Breakfast where you can sit, eat and relax to the sweet sound of gospel at around 9am or 10am. After breakfast, a buffet lunch is served among 12:30 in the exquisite L’Azure Restaurant. For reservations or more information, call 423-6220.
However, there are many other choices for buffet lunch available on Sundays across the island. Some the restaurants known to offer such these lunches include The Beach House Bar and Restaurant, The Garden Terrace Restaurant at the Southern Palms Hotel and Rachel’s Bar and Restaurant.
