Never a Dull Moment in Barbados – Things to do on Monday

Harbour Lights Monday Beach Extravaganza Dinner Show with Philip 7 and Masala

Harbour Lights, an open air beachfront nightclub, presents you with the opportunity to dance in the sand under the stars to Phillip 7 and Masala every Monday night. A delicious, mouth-watering BBQ dinner with free-flowing cocktails and dessert, caps off a great night.  Described as “an evening not to be missed”, drinks are free up until 2am, and even then, the DJ will still be blazing tunes. Other entertainment on the night includes steel pan, fire-eaters, tuk band and the limbo queen. For further details, call 436-7225.

Signature Tasting Tour at Mount Gay Visitors Centre

Learn. Taste. Enjoy. What better way to kick off the week than with a tour of Mount Gay Rum Distilleries? At this tour, you will learn the rich history of Mount Gay Rum, through viewing of antiques from the past and the audio-visual show that looks at the essential ingredients, native to the island, that are necessary to this signature rum as well as the processes that go into refining, ageing and blending of the flavours. Finally, every one’s favourite part, tasting, will allow patrons to excite their taste buds with the lovely aromas and whet their tongues with the signature flavours of Mount Gay Rum. The tour ends in the Mount Gay Rum Bar & Lounge where you will be treated with a cocktail sample specially created by the mixologists. There is also the option of a “rumspired” lunch buffet, featuring rum filled desserts. Contact 425-8757 for further information.

Dinner with George Washington

This Dinner Theatre Production at the George Washington House treats persons to a unique and prestigious interactive Dining and Theatrical experience. Here, you enjoy a 5 course 18th century dinner in a suitably authentic 18th century setting with the sounds of violin and cello music in the atmosphere. Seeped in history, this is the house where the then 19-year-old George Washington spent 6 weeks of his life in his only visit outside of the US. Enjoy the company of George Washington, who is portrayed by famous historian Dr. Karl Watson. Contact 233-2601/14648 for further information.

The Redmen at The Southern Palms Hotel

This popular band, treats visitors to the Southern Palms Hotel to a night of lovely country music as they dine. With both oceanfront and poolside dining available, you can dance under the stars. At times, there will be a Caribbean theme buffet, but the menu generally has a wide range of options including pizzas, burgers, seafood and grilled meats. Show begins at 8:11pm for reservations call 428-7171.

Clifton Hall Great House – Heritage Tour

Take the opportunity to tour one of Barbados’ oldest and largest great houses, appreciate its unique architecture and learn about the rich history of the home. It was previously in ruins until it was recently renovated and transformed by its owners, who, although they transformed it to be suitable for daily living, have preserved the historic character of the home. The private tour will be conducted by its owner, Massimo Franchi.  Refreshments are included in the entry fee. Call 240-5198 for booking information.
