Most Romantic Flowers and Their Meanings

One of most subtle yet romantic gifts anyone can receive is a flower. Over the years, flowers have symbolised love and other various romantic emotions. Ideally, it is important to know what message the flower you are sending/receiving conveys. This is an alphabetical list of the most romantic flowers and what they each mean.

Carnation – Since they usually come in different colours, each colour has its own meaning; pink is maternal love, striped means refusal, yellow is rejection/disappointment and red means fascination.

Daisy – innocent, pure and loyal love.

Gardenia – purity, innocence, modesty and sincerity.

Gladiolas – infatuation, moral strength and integrity.

Hydrangeas – enduring grace and beauty.

Iris – faith and hope; wisdom and courage.

Jasmine – love, modesty, sensuality and attachment.

Lilac – asks the question: “Do you still love me?”; also means youthful and innocent.

Lily – white symbolizes purity or virginity; yellow symbolizes walking on air or falsehood, orange means “I burn for you”.

Orchid – rare beauty, refinement, long life, femininity, mature charm, love and seduction.

Primrose – says “I can’t live without you”.

Rose – red roses say “I love you”; red and white roses mixed together symbolize perfect unity.

Sunflower – loyalty, longevity and adoration.

Tulip – red tulips indicate a declaration of love, multicoloured tulips say “You have beautiful eyes”, yellow tulips say “I am hopelessly in love with you”.
