Island Escapades: Romance in Barbados

Island Escapades: Romance in Barbados

A while back, we dealt with how you can make the beach romantic in Barbados and what you can do on a date night in Barbados. This article will look at the various romantic island escapades you and yours can experience across the island, no matter the location or time of day.

Watching the sunset

There are few things more romantic than watching a sunset against the backdrop of the cool, calm waters of the Caribbean Sea. The Boardwalk on the south coast is an ideal place for this. Also, there is the option of lounging on the beach to watch the sunset and some ideal locations for this are Batts Rocks, Mullins Bay and Heywoods Beach.

Experience exquisite cuisines from across the island

Barbados, despite its small size has hundreds of excellent restaurants that serve a variety of cuisines from Indian, Italian, American or Thai. You can enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner for two, while experiencing the best in international cuisine. If dinner is not on your list, these restaurants also offer buffets and brunches.

Picnic in the garden

Barbados has a wonderful collection of gardens including Hunte’s Gardens and Flower Forest. Take a nice afternoon stroll with a picnic basket and enjoy the calm atmosphere and scenery. The gardens have many tropical plants from all over the world. The garden at Codrington College also offers a beautiful and tranquil setting for a picnic.

Snorkel on reefs and shipwrecks

Another major attraction in Barbados is the underwater life. With a wide array of coral reefs and shipwrecks (at certain sites) Barbados is one of the premier locations in the Caribbean for snorkelling. One of the island’s best spots to snorkel is the reefs of Carlisle Bay.

Enjoy a Boat Cruise

Barbados also offers a wide array of catamaran cruises. You can book day cruises where you can snorkel and swim with turtles you or you can book a sunset cruise. Some of the cruises are all inclusive meaning that you can get lunch/ dinner or drinks. Several companies offer boat cruises including El Tigre or even the Jolly Roger Taste Of the Caribbean Sunset Cruise & Dinnershow.

Spa day

Barbados has many spa options available to both locals and visitors. Some options for Spas include the Healing Power of Touch, Schotherapy Internationale Day Spa or the Elements Spa at Mango Bay. Enjoy facials, relaxing couples massages, skin treatments and much more and sit back, relax and enjoy being pampered together.

Cave Exploring

On the surface, it does not appear too romantic, but the caves in Barbados, especially Harrison’s Cave and Animal Flower Cave provide a nice setting for you and your loved one to experience nature. With Harrison’s Cave boasting Stalactites and Stalagmites, waterfalls and crystalline waters, and the Animal Flower Cave, the only human accessible sea cave in the island, boasting whale watching (depending on the type of the year), this exploration can be a romantic one for you and yours.

Horseback Riding
Whether beach or countryside are both, whichever you choose, it will be an exciting experience and adventure. Barbados has several organizations offering riding tours during the day or even sometimes at night. One of these such places is Ride Barbados Horseback Tours, who offer tours both on the beach and in the country.

Explore the island

Take a map, rent a car, and either pick up some food on the way or pack a picnic basket and spend the entire day with your partner driving around the island and taking in the sights and scenes that the island has to offer.

Get Married!

What is better than a Destination Wedding? A Destination wedding in Barbados of course. Choose to get married at one of our stunning resorts such as Sandals, on one of our lovely beaches such as the Crane Beach or at one of our Plantation properties such as Guinea Plantation or Sunbury Plantation House.

Whichever experience on this list you choose to enjoy, it will be one to savour with your partner. There is no better place to experience romance in the Caribbean, and by extension the world, than Barbados. Come on, your ideal romantic experience awaits you!
