How to Celebrate Your First Anniversary

How to Celebrate Your First Anniversary

It’s that day. A year to the day after you said “I do” to your special someone. But how are you going to celebrate it? Every couple celebrates this anniversary in different ways but the key to the ideal celebration is planning something you know both you and your partner will enjoy. Also, it is very important to celebrate this milestone because despite it being only one year, that first year is one of the most difficult in a marriage. This article presents the various ways for you to celebrate a first anniversary.

Rewind – pop in that wedding DVD and look back on your special day. Also, bring out the photo album to aid in the reminiscing. Cap off the night with a glass or bottle of wine as you look back on all the things that made your day so special.

Paper Gift – Tradition says that for a first wedding anniversary, you must give your partner a paper gift. So, you can write some poetry, or a letter telling your partner how much you love them.

Second honeymoon – plan a getaway to somewhere new for you and your partner to explore together. This will give you guys the opportunity to reconnect and just enjoy each other’s company. Also, you can visit somewhere you have been before. Many choose their original honeymoon destination in an attempt to ‘remember the magic’.

An Extravagant Evening for Two – try a new restaurant that your partner or both of you have been eager to try. Or better yet, that expensive place that seems a bit much for any regular date night but is ideal for celebrating a 1st anniversary. Finish off this great night with some dancing.

Romantic Stay-In Date – why eat out when you can have a cozy romantic evening inside? Cook a nice meal for your partner, with candlelight and desert and capped off with a glass of bubbly.

Wild day for two – instead of just a dinner night to celebrate the day, there is the option of spending the entire day celebrating your anniversary. Take your spouse out and do something wild, unexpected and liberating; something that will create lasting memories just like that day one year ago!

Exchange gifts – Surprise your wife or husband with a new wedding band to celebrate your love. Or exchange more sentimental gifts that reflect all that your relationship means to you, for example, mementos, photos, poems etc.

Plan a Party – what if you guys are sociable and wish to celebrate the day with a few friends? This is a good idea as well as you can choose to host a party inviting some close friends and family.

Vow Renewal – a perfect way of re-affirming the commitment you made to each other. This can be done in an official capacity using a priest or minister or you can simply make it just a private and intimate moment between you and your partner.

Have some Wedding Cake– many couples freeze their wedding cake and eat it on the first anniversary. However, do not panic if you didn’t do this. You can simply make a replica of your wedding cake and enjoy it much the same way for desert to your perfect meal or just for fun.

Have a “Second” First Dance – replicate the first dance you shared as a couple by dancing to song you did on your wedding day. You can even have someone create a special voice over message for your spouse, set to the music of your wedding song and dance the night away.

Relive your wedding night…maybe even out do it – most couples consummate their marriage on their wedding night so what better way to kick off year two of marriage? Be as romantic as possible, including the sexy lingerie, maybe set the ambiance with candles and sensual music, and enjoy passionate lovemaking with your spouse as you begin year two of marriage.
