Harry Bayley Observatory
The Harry Bayley Observatory, named after Dr. Harry Bayley is the only observatory in the Caribbean. Dr. Bayley was an esteemed medical doctor who also had an eye for photography and astronomy. In 1956, he founded the Barbados Astronomical Society and from 1958, he becaming a driving force towards the construction of an observatory. Finally in 1963, the Harry Bayley Observatory was built in his memory. It is located in Clapham, St. Michael and quite unexpectedly,sits amidst a residential area.
