Dining by the Water’s Edge – Christ Church

Whether you are a tourist or a local resident, dining by the Oceanside is one of the most romantic places to enjoy a nice dinner with your significant other. Oceanside dining is also good for intimate occasions for example a cozy birthday dinner with close friends or family. Whatever the reason you choose to dine near the sea, Barbados has a wealth of restaurants with ocean views in various locations across the island. “Dining by the Water’s Edge” will take you through six parish, we start off this series with Christ Church.

Fine Dining

Apsara Samudra

This restaurant is the only one on the island offering a blend of North Indian and Thai cuisine. As one dines, it would feel as if the food was flown in from India or Thailand itself. It offers healthy breakfasts with gluten, wheat and egg free options. There is also the option of dining in the private dining room (air conditioned), which also makes Apsatra Samurda suitable for private events and special occasions.

What they said:

Definitely the best restaurant in Barbados. The food, the atmosphere and the service [were] simply perfect…@ Louie-Anne

As vegetarians we are used to limited choice on menus but it was not the case here. The food was excellent, the place is stunning… @Dilys G

Azul Restaurant

Located on the property of the Sea Breeze Beach Hotel, Azul Restaurant provides a fine dining experience with a variety of international dishes, with a Caribbean twist. The atmosphere is seductive, and it also provides an area to lime with friends while sipping cocktails. Guests at the hotel are allowed to dine twice during their stay.

What they said:

Having the Azul restaurant limited to two nights per week was a great idea because you were able to feel you were having a special night out. Indeed one of these days was for our wedding anniversary and we were made to feel very special by the attentive staff. @ADandSD

Azul restaurant has a stunning view for a romantic dinner and the front lobby opens up to the most breathtaking view of the ocean. @dianatravelss

Café Luna

With a unique setting on the rooftop of the Little Arches Hotel, Café Luna has one of the most breathtaking views of any restaurant in Barbados. As you sit and dine, you can see the setting sun and the white silver sands beach down below. In the Zagat Survey of 2008÷09÷10, it was ranked in the top 3 for best food, best décor, best hotel dining, best Mediterranean food and best eclectic food, also winning restaurant of the year in 2012 (awarded by the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association). It offers all day dining with international cuisine.

What they said:

This is a great restaurant…and this place has an amazing view! Five stars may not be enough for the staff serving you at this restaurant. They really make everyone feel special. I would recommend this place to everyone! @Mark H

We recently had dinner at Café Luna and it was a truly wonderful experience for several reasons. The food was first class, the ambience was amazing, the service was super, the evening sky was sprinkled with stars, the moon was in full bloom glimmering on the sea, the warm evening breeze made the palm leaves sway in such a hypnotic way that I felt I was truly in a dream. I can’t wait to go back. @LindaParrack

My son and I enjoyed two great meals at Lanterns during our recent stay in Christ Church, Barbados…We enjoyed lunch one day while taking a walk along this pristine beach, I must say I enjoyed the best vegetarian lasanga I have ever tasted. It came with a side of flying fish and salad…I was set for the rest of the day and did not need dinner…Lovely view from our table. @Cheryl K

Mermaid Restaurant

Also located at the Sea Breeze Beach Hotel is the Mermaid restaurant, provides all day dining (breakfast, lunch and dinner), with the dinner menu changing every 2 days.

What they said:

Food served in all three restaurants was lovely, most evenings the food in the mermaid was ordered off the menu rather than buffet which was great.@Jobo 10

On the beach, this delightful boutique hotel, bar, and restaurant is wonderfully charming, low key and a find. The drinks were wet, and the food was fresh and delicious. We dined here for the second time on our recent trip to Barbados. The food is excellent. Upscale presentation and delicious preparation. The prices are a bit higher than many restaurants on The Gap, but the restaurant rivals most in NYC and Boston and is priced accordingly. It’s worth it! The venue is magnificent. Romantic, elegant. @rrlongowens
