
Whether you are a tourist or a local resident, dining by the Oceanside is one of the most romantic places to enjoy a nice dinner with your significant other. Oceanside dining is also good for intimate occasions for example a cozy birthday dinner with close friends or family. Whatever the reason you choose to dine near the sea, Barbados has a wealth of restaurants with ocean views in various locations across the island. “Dining by the Water’s Edge” will take you through six parish, we start off this series with Christ Church.
Fine Dining
Apsara Samudra
This restaurant is the only one on the island offering a blend of North Indian and Thai cuisine. As one dines, it would feel as if the food was flown in from India or Thailand itself. It offers healthy breakfasts with gluten, wheat and egg free options. There is also the option of dining in the private dining room (air conditioned), which also makes Apsatra Samurda suitable for private events and special occasions.

Azul Restaurant
Located on the property of the Sea Breeze Beach Hotel, Azul Restaurant provides a fine dining experience with a variety of international dishes, with a Caribbean twist. The atmosphere is seductive, and it also provides an area to lime with friends while sipping cocktails. Guests at the hotel are allowed to dine twice during their stay.

Café Luna
With a unique setting on the rooftop of the Little Arches Hotel, Café Luna has one of the most breathtaking views of any restaurant in Barbados. As you sit and dine, you can see the setting sun and the white silver sands beach down below. In the Zagat Survey of 2008÷09÷10, it was ranked in the top 3 for best food, best décor, best hotel dining, best Mediterranean food and best eclectic food, also winning restaurant of the year in 2012 (awarded by the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association). It offers all day dining with international cuisine.

We recently had dinner at Café Luna and it was a truly wonderful experience for several reasons. The food was first class, the ambience was amazing, the service was super, the evening sky was sprinkled with stars, the moon was in full bloom glimmering on the sea, the warm evening breeze made the palm leaves sway in such a hypnotic way that I felt I was truly in a dream. Champers Restaurant & Wine Bar
One of the leading restaurants on the south coast, Champers offers great food with a true value for money experience. It is an open air restaurant, perched on a cliff with a breathtaking view of the ocean. It serves lunch and dinner daily with a variety of international dishes to suit any taste.

Lanterns by the Sea
Open daily for breakfast lunch and dinner, Lanterns by the Sea at the Bougainvillea Beach Resort is famous for its beautiful South Coast ocean view and delicious local cuisine. On Monday, they provide a Barbeque Buffet, while on Thursdays they host a Caribbean Buffet and show.

Mermaid Restaurant
Also located at the Sea Breeze Beach Hotel is the Mermaid restaurant, provides all day dining (breakfast, lunch and dinner), with the dinner menu changing every 2 days.

Naru Restaurant and Lounge
Serving a blend of Pan Asian and Caribbean Cuisine, the Naru Restaurant provides a unique dining experience in Barbados. The kitchen is quite open, thus allowing guests to see their food being prepared.

This restaurant is located in the hub of activity on the south coast, St. Lawrence Gap, and offers a multi-cuisine menu with surprising twists on local favourites. Primo will not only offer you great food and a variety of fine wines, but a beautiful atmosphere complete with a stunning view, and fantastic service.

We were staying in Barbados a couple of weeks ago. We met a guy at the bus stop called Richard, he actually works at Primo — He told us we should give Primo a try, so we did.
We had a lovely meal, made to feel really welcome by Richard and the crew.

Rachel’s Restaurant
This restaurant is located at the Savannah Beach Hotel and is ideal for both locals and tourists. Like most of the ocean view restaurants, it offers an open air setting, and visitors have their choice of what to eat for breakfast and dinner. This restaurant is perfect for those who want a seeking a great dining experience infused with a little bit of Barbadian culture with the origin of the restaurant’s name (Rachel is derived from the Barbadian Rachel Pringle who was a slave but later became the first black woman to own a hotel in Barbados) epitomizing the richness of culture evident at this restaurant.

The Soco Restaurant
This air-conditioned restaurant by the water’s edge is open for all day dinning with a constantly changing menu, increasing the variety of dishes available to its customers. The cuisine is a nice blend of Caribbean and International. Music is played in the background during meals, with live music provided occasionally by the poolside.

Tapas
This restaurant can be found in Hastings Christ Church, near to the popular “boardwalk”. and offers a variety of international dishes. The restaurant itself has two floors with each offering equally stunning views of the Caribbean Sea. The chefs also prepare cakes for the best birthday celebrations.

Waterside Restaurant
Located in St. Lawrence Gap on the south coast, The Waterside Restaurant has a beautiful and tranquil view, perfect for a romantic dinner. The food served is of a high quality and a wide variety. It is also an ideal location for special functions such as weddings, as it has a private air-conditioned room, able to hold 28 persons. There is also a lounge available for a casual liming experience.

We dined here for the second time on our recent trip to Barbados. The food is excellent. Upscale presentation and delicious preparation. The prices are a bit higher than many restaurants on The Gap, but the restaurant rivals most in NYC and Boston and is priced accordingly. It’s worth it! The venue is magnificent. Blakey’s Bar and Restaurant
The casual, beachfront atmosphere of Blakey’s Bar and Restaurant offers locals and tourists alike a relaxing and soothing dining experience. The view is excellent especially at night with the lighted lanterns and the sun setting over the ocean. The cuisine is a blend of Caribbean and American and patrons can take a nice stroll ob the boardwalk before and after dining. Live music is provided on Fridays and Sundays. There are also TVs broadcasting sports competitions so the sports lovers can enjoy a night out at the bar.

Round Rock Restaurant and Bar
This West Indian restaurant serves delicious Bajan cuisine with a lovely view overlooking the ocean. It is perfect for a Sunday Buffet style lunch and also hosts a Barbeque night each Thursday.
Surfers Café
Nestled on the beach and overlooking Oistins bay, this café offers a casual atmosphere with fantastic service only bettered by delicious cuisine and drinks. It is open for all day dining, and provides live music in its Acoustic Lounge on Sundays and Wednesdays.

The Tiki Bar
The Tiki Bar is located on the edge of the Accra Beach on the south coast, and provides an extensive list of cocktails for you to try. It also has a DJ, proving music for you to enjoy as you relax in this casual atmosphere, whether it is on the picnic tables in the restaurant or on the lounge chairs on the beach.

Water’s Edge Restaurant
Located at the Bougainvillea Beach Resort, the Water’s Edge Restaurant offers a nice, casual open air dining experience Fridays, through to Tuesdays. During the afternoon, you can visit the restaurant for tea, where you will find lovely selection of freshly baked parties. At night, it offers various international cuisines, with the “small plates, big flavours” concept allowing guests to sample several menu options at once.

Just got back from Barbados ( 3 times) — we did not stay in the hotel, but did eat at the Water’s Edge Restaurant twice! The management did everything to make a tough NYC family happy.
