Barbados Horticultural Society Open Gardens Program

In Barbados, plant cultivation and gardening is promoted by the Barbados Horticultural Society. This vibrant community hosts an annual Flower and Garden Show and travels as far as the UK to display and compete in the Chelsea Flower Show, returning with various awards every year.

During the months January to March, this society hosts an Open Garden program which sees a myriad of beautiful, private gardens being opened to the public for one evening. These gardens are owned and maintained by various members of the society and gardening enthusiasts across the island.

 The Current Schedule for 2017 is pending however the event has visited gardens such as: 

January – Sunday, 07th – “Sea Shell”, Gibbs, St. Peter; Holiday Home of the Tynan family

January – Sunday, 21st – “Edencrest”,  Kendal, St. John;  Home of Prof. Clive & Mrs Julie Landis

February  – Sunday 04th – “Fustic House”, St. Lucy;   Home of Mr.& Mrs Kit Braden

February – Sunday 11th – Westmoreland Cottage, Mount Standfast, St. James; Home of Mr. & Mrs Roger Manning

March  – Sunday 4th – To be announced

March – Sunday 18th – To be announced

The gardens are open from 2pm until 6pm. Admission is Bds $10.00 for BHS members, all others $15.00 and light refreshments and tea will be on sale. For further information call 428-5889.
