Barbados is a land filled with characters, both real and fictional. Ossie Moore is one such character who has become ingrained into Barbados’ history. Today, Ossie Moore and his exploits are hardly spoken of but there was once a time when his name was on every tongue.
Though thought to be folklore, Ossie Moore was infact a real person. George Ethelbert Oscar Moore was born March 30th, 1900 in the parish of St. James. He was considered a slow learner and his teachers would often send him on little errands. While there was some truth to the original tales of Ossie, many were actually distorted as a means of entertainment.
